Blogspot book review
"A poignant reminder of what's important in life - Integrity, caring & sharing. If we could all be so patient and present, we too would hear all the beautiful messages our four-legged friends have to teach us."
- Angie Anderson, author of 101 Ways to Bliss: Quick & Easy Tips for Leading a Joyous Life!
I just finished your wonderful book, On Toby’s Terms, what an amazing read. I laughed, I cried and I was amazed. Not only about Toby, but about you and Chris. It was heartwarming and thoroughly enlightening. Thank you for sharing that part of your lives with all of us.

First of all, I love any stories about animals. On Toby's Terms is a very special book. Touching, enlightening and surprising. Toby turns out to be a great teacher to his owners in spite of them trying to teach him. I highly recommend this book to all dog lovers!

"5 Stars Not your everyday dog book. I loved the surprises, the life lessons and the humility that this beautiful book offered. If you have a dog, know a dog or love a dog, you will love this book, too!"

Dear Reader, my name is Lisa Chell and I am a mother of four. I have spent 21 years experiencing the peaks and pitfalls of being a parent and the overwhelming love and commitment that comes with that. I have never owned a dog (we do have a rabbit) and it didn't occur to me that a relationship with a dog could be as strong as the relationship between a parent and child...and Charmaine, Chris and Toby have taught me to look at things in a new way. As I read On Toby's Terms, I felt the same struggles and triumphs with love, frustration, faith, trust, fear, devotion, understanding and steadfastness in their family as I feel in ours. Anyone and everyone, regardless of your family dynamics, will fall head over heels with this book, this family and the underlying message; which is about devotion to helping one another find purpose and meaning in life and supporting those whom we love.

This review is from: On Toby's Terms: A Story of Love, Life and Purpose (Paperback)
I put this book in the bathroom to read in short segments (you know what I mean). I started reading "On Toby's Terms" and couldn't put it down, so I ended up on the couch and stayed up way too late reading it.
A touching story that made me laugh and cry and miss terribly my own dog who went o doggy heaven last year.

I was so blessed to read Toby's book on my trip to Mexico to visit my daughter and her sweet family. My husband brought in the mail right before we walked out the door and I was delighted to see your book in the pile. You are a beautiful writer and I cried so many different kinds of tears....gratitude, grief, relief, the list goes on. You can move the heart…be faithful with your gift.

"On Toby's Terms" is more profound and enlightening than you think. It IS on Toby's terms, which is after all a very charismatic dog, but it is also about his owners and their process of discovering themselves through the eyes of their pet. Their life will be changed forever, so you should pick up this book, for the same transformation will happen to you! The book is a great gift to children and adults!!!

love when I find a book that brings me Joy and inspiration, especially when it's a true story, written by my dear friend Charmaine Hammond. I have no doubt that this will be compared to Marley and Me, however; I find a ton of differences. Number one, it does not end sadly! Number two, this is about a dog and owner who make a difference with mentally ill people! I for one cannot wait for the movie. Congratulations Charmaine on an exquisitely written book. I read it in only one day.
